Virginia Tech broke ground on its Innovation Campus, a one million-square foot graduate campus comprised of three masterfully designed buildings that will include academic classrooms, incubator space for new startups and research and development, offices for industry collaboration, and convening space for alumni events. Located in the heart of National Landing’s technology district and minutes away from Amazon’s HQ2, Virginia Tech’s Innovation Campus furthers JBG SMITH’s ambition to establish National Landing as the country’s next technology hub. JBG SMITH CEO Matt Kelly said he’s thrilled to work with Virginia Tech on this momentous project, noting the Innovation Campus will cultivate a “creative workforce capable of filling all the tech jobs that will be produced throughout the D.C. region in the coming decades.”

At a recent event called the Future of Alexandria, hosted by Bisnow, JBG SMITH Senior Vice President of Development Bailey Edelson praised the city’s involvement in the Potomac Yard project, which includes the Virginia Tech campus, noting it was critical in moving the project forward. “There’s a willingness to engage and problem-solve and figure it out together … that was absolutely necessary in the years we spent getting Virginia Tech and the first phase of Potomac Yard approved.”
